The CPCS Renewal Test (CPD) is an online assessment designed for construction plant operators who need to renew their CPCS cards. This test ensures that operators maintain their knowledge and skills to current industry standards.
The CPCS Renewal CPD (formerly the CPCS Renewal Test) is a mandatory step in renewing your Blue Competent Operator Card.
Since August 2024, all renewal testing moved fully online through the NOCN Hub — no test centre visits required.
The CPD includes an e-learning preparation module followed by a multiple-choice assessment, completed at any time on your mobile phone or laptop.
You must complete the relevant CPD module for every plant category listed on your Blue Card.

What is the CPCS Renewal CPD?
It is an online e-learning and assessment programme that replaced the old in-centre Renewal Test from August 2024. It must be completed to renew your Blue CPCS Card.
Can I still do the Renewal Test at a test centre?
No. Since August 2024 the test can no longer be completed in a centre. It is exclusively available online via the NOCN Hub.
Is there a pass mark for the Renewal CPD?
No minimum pass mark applies to the new Renewal CPD. The e-learning module is included to help prepare you for the questions.
How long does the online test take?
Completion time varies by category but most operators finish each module within 1–2 hours, including the preparation e-learning content.
What if I hold multiple CPCS categories?
You must complete a Renewal CPD module for each category you wish to renew. Select all relevant modules when filling in the booking form.
What do I need to complete the test?
A mobile phone or laptop with a stable internet connection is all you need. No specialist software or downloads are required.
How quickly will I receive access after payment?
Your confirmed booking and access details are sent via email within a few minutes of completing payment.
Can this be done as a standalone booking or as part of a full renewal package?
Both options are available. You can book the CPD test on its own here, or choose the full Blue Card Package if you also need your CITB test and application processed.
